1. Acceptance of Terms

By using NeighborPrices ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, submitters, and registered users.

2. Description of Service

NeighborPrices is a community-driven database where homeowners voluntarily share what they paid for home services. The Service provides price comparison tools, community-reported pricing data, and educational cost guides. The data is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice.

The free verdict layer (typical range, median, and report count) is available to all visitors. Deeper detail (individual nearby reports, scope notes, exact-job comparisons) may be unlocked by submitting a verified report of your own (the contributor unlock), receiving a gifted unlock from a contributor, or purchasing a one-time unlock for that exact result. Payments are processed by Stripe. There is no homeowner subscription tier.

3. User Submissions

When you submit a price report, you represent that:

• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• You are the homeowner or were directly involved in the transaction.
• You grant NeighborPrices a perpetual, royalty-free license to display and use the submitted data (in anonymized, aggregate form) to operate and improve the Service.
• You are not submitting false, misleading, or commercially motivated data.

We reserve the right to remove any submission that we believe is inaccurate, abusive, or submitted in bad faith.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit false or fabricated price data intended to skew community statistics.
• Use automated tools to submit data in bulk or scrape the Service.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, attack, or disrupt the Service.
• Submit spam, malware, or harmful content.
• Submit content that contains profanity, slurs, harassment, or that defames a specific person or business.
• Submit content that contains personal information about other people, including phone numbers, email addresses, or street addresses that are not your own.
• Submit content that contains promotional URLs, referral codes, or commercial solicitations.
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent.
• Use the Service as a lead-generation, resale, or contractor solicitation channel.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.

We run automated content scanning on submitted text. Submissions that match our safety filters are flagged for human moderation, and may be hidden from public pages or rejected entirely. Repeat violations may result in account suspension.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. NeighborPrices does not guarantee:

• The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of community-reported pricing data.
• That the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
• That community data reflects current market conditions in your specific area.

Community pricing data is contributed by anonymous users and may be out of date, inaccurate, or unrepresentative. Always get multiple quotes before making purchasing decisions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NeighborPrices shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or reliance on any pricing data displayed. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed $100.

7. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as Thumbtack or Angi). These are provided for convenience only. They are not NeighborPrices recommendations, and any quote request, purchase, or follow-up happens directly with that third party, not with us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for third-party content, privacy practices, or services. Some links are sponsored and may earn us a commission if you click and complete a quote request or purchase.

8. Intellectual Property

The NeighborPrices name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property. User-submitted price data, once submitted, is licensed to us as described in Section 3. You retain ownership of your original descriptions and commentary.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these terms, without notice.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the District of Columbia.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
